“For The

Children!”

It all began in 2006 with Chris Stewart, who believed that camp was an important part of every child’s development and could be more than people expected. In 2016 the unique and legendary camp programs Chris created were continued by his eldest son Christopher (we know… their names are confusing).

Since then Wilderwood Camps has continued to be a family-owned and operated business by Christopher and his family. Wilderwood holds true to its establishing belief that Summer Camp is a crucially important part of every child’s development.

In 2018 the battle cry “for the Children” was uttered by one of our camp counselors. Since then it has been adopted as a team slogan that encapsulates Wilderwood’s founding principles and the reason we believe so much in Summer Camp because it’s all “for the children!”

  • Jacob had THE best time at camp with Wilderwood all summer. He loved all of the themes. He loved the counselors and all the effort that was put into each day. He had something positive to say everyday when I picked him up. He keeps talking about how much he is looking forward to next summer!

  • This camp earned 5 stars from start to finish. They answered all of my questions and even had an open Q&A at the beginning. They welcomed parents to be involved and made it extremely easy for us as working parents to have a safe and fun place for our child.

    Catherine

  • My kids loved Wilderwood Camp this week! Each morning they were happy to arrive at camp and were happy when we picked them up each day. The staff did fun things every day, and I loved how they kept them active and outside a lot of the time. My kids asked to go there again next year.

    Rachel

  • Thank you for doing a great job this summer! This was Blair's first experience at a camp and she really enjoyed it. We never heard her say anything but fun and exciting things. This will definitely be a success each and every year.

  • I sent my daughter and nephew to theater camp at the East Ridge location. From the first day at drop off both kids loved the camp, theme, lunches, and counselors. They both worked hard to read, practice, and memorize their part in the play/performance. Enjoying water play each day was always fun for them too. I will be doing more camps at Wilderwood next summer for sure!

  • Quinn named her East Ridge experience ‘really fun’ and her favorite camps of the summer. Her favorite part overall we’re the counselors. Unlike other camps she attended, she felt that the Wilderwood counselors genuinely cared about her and enjoyed interacting with her and the other kids. She loved both weeks she attended (escape room and acting), but was very passionate about her acting experience and said it was an absolute blast.

Wilderwood’s Mission

At Wilderwood Camps, our mission is to change lives for the better and develop healthy, kind, and creative people through building imaginations, nurturing relationships, and inspiring a love for the outdoors.

  • Building Imaginations — We do this by providing safe space and thoughtful structure in which kids can just be kids and have plain old fun! By believing kids are capable of creating great things, we provide the support for our campers to try things they never have before.

  • Nurturing Relationships — Whether it’s from staffer to camper, camper to camper, or staffer to staffer, we encourage caring friendships and mentorships to be built, relationships that we hope will inspire for a lifetime!

  • Inspiring a Love for the Outdoors — We believe this is the best place for imaginations to be built! We model a love for the outdoors through spending as much time outside as possible, programming our camp activities to fit our outdoor spaces, and providing free time for the campers to develop their own fun.

“We know firsthand that Camp has an important impact on children.

As second-generation camp directors, we understand the impact camps have firsthand. We at Wilderwood Camps approach our program from this mindset, looking to create meaningful moments and experiences that impact campers for the rest of their lives. We want all campers to feel known and cherished. We strive to create a safe and nurturing environment where campers can push their limits, try new things, and ultimately, grow.

Christopher & Heidi Stewart Owners / Directors

Although we are not a church camp or an evangelistic camp, Wilderwood Camps is rooted in the Christian faith and its values. Our programming reflects these beliefs, as does our desire to provide campers with mentors who model love through their actions. Our counselors are the role models your child will be looking up to. We invest a great deal of time and resources in finding the right counselors. We hire young people who have the ingredients of good character — patience, kindness, gentleness, love, self-control, empathy, and fun-loving.

We know how important it is to find the right partner when taking an adventure. When you choose Wilderwood Camps, you’re choosing more than a camp, you’re choosing great role models for your child!

Why Wilderwood Camps?

At Wilderwood Camps, your camper will head home on Closing Day with an experience that was More Than Fun. They will have learned new skills and tried new activities. They will have made new friends and strengthened connections with current friends while led by the most awesome, passionate, and caring counselors. They will have grown in confidence during Posse Challenges, in grit and perseverance while at Adventure Time, and in leadership and teamwork during Activities and Games - all while laughing with their friends and counselors.

This is the Wilderwood Camps difference.

Go Beyond Fun…

We are led by a welcoming and affirming year-round team of seasoned camp professionals. Our summer staff is comprised of returning campers, veteran counselors, experienced coaches, and fresh new staff who join us each year. This dynamic mix invigorates our culture and gives us a relevant, youthful outlook.

We retain our cherished traditions while constantly improving our programming and tweaking our practices when change is the better choice. We want the most authentic, impactful camp experience for our campers.

We strive to be an environmentally-friendly camp, prioritizing zero-waste practices and educating our campers in the ways they can be conscious of their environmental footprint. We incorporate a sustainable dining system into our camp programming.

  • Wilderwood Camps wants every child to have the chance to experience the wonders of summer. And what better place is there to enjoy the adventures of summer than at summer camp? We want to make sure every child is given every opportunity to come to camp this year. But we know that schedules can be a tricky thing for some parents. That is why we offer our Extended Camp service. With it, you are able to drop off your child any time between 7:00 AM and the start of Camp at 9:00 AM, as well as pick your child up any time from the end of Camp at 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM, giving you an extra 6 hours of camp a day. The best part is that it only costs $10 a day just for the days you use it (if you sign up for ALL SUMMER it’s free!) So, if your camper is coming to camp all week, but you only need to use the Extended Camp service on Wednesday, you would only have to pay for Wednesday, not the whole week.

Now don't get confused, “Extended Camp” is not daycare… it’s an action-packed extension of all the fun, exciting adventures of camp. However, that doesn't mean it's the right option for everyone or even something that families who do use it need to use every day.

  • We offer an exclusive ALL SUMMER registration program. Our ALL SUMMER program is a bulk discount that gives you access to all of our fantastic summer camps, free to come and go as you choose, at one low cost of $3,500 (over $1,500 in saving vs. signing up individually). Our ALL SUMMER Program includes 13 weeks of exciting camp adventures plus all 6 hours a day of Extended Camp free.

  • For all our Day Camps, we provided lunch for all our campers. However, campers who do not want to eat the provided lunch or have special dietary needs should come to camp with a packed lunch.

  • Drop-off starts at 9AM with Extended Camp starting as early as 7AM. Drop-off ends at 9:15 AM. Campers will be unloaded from their vehicles by the staff.

  • Pickup is from 2PM to 2:30PM with Extended Camp ending as late as 6PM. Campers will be loaded by the staff. If you need assistance with drop off and pick up, you can call the office for assistance.

  • We do provide lunch for the campers. However, we do not provide snacks during camp hours (9AM - 2PM). But, if your camper is staying for Extended Camp, there is a snack provided at 3:00 PM. If your camper does not want to eat our provided snack, you are always welcome to pack a snack for them.

  • Our camp day is much more energetic and exhausting than a normal school day for the kids. They move and run around constantly. There’s no sitting down in chairs in classrooms. So they get a lot more tired. Because of this we have an hour nap for those campers younger than 5 years old, and a 25-minute rest time where we tell stories for the campers 5-6 years old.

    1. All campers must pack a change of clothes.

    1. Campers will be given 2 camp group T-Shirts which must be worn each day of camp.

    2. Appropriate shoes, shirts, and shorts or pants are to be worn at all times.

    3. All clothing must be neat, clean, and acceptable in appearance, without tears or holes, and must be worn within the bounds of decency and good taste as appropriate for all camp events.

    4. Items of clothing that expose bare midriffs (including two-piece bathing suits), bare chests, undergarments (short shorts), and which are transparent (see-through) are prohibited. Tank tops are permitted as long as they fit within all other guidelines.

    5. Articles of clothing that display profanity, products, or slogans that promote tobacco, alcohol, drugs, or sex, or in any other way distracting or inappropriate, are prohibited.

    6. Clothing that advertises any gang symbols or affiliation is prohibited.

    7. Also, campers need to be able to move and play actively. Thus, excessively baggy or tight clothing is just not a good plan.
